Bio
Dave P. Fisher has spent half his lifetime as a working cowboy, rodeo rider, bronc buster, horsepacker, and guide. His adventures on the back of a horse have taken him from the wilds of Alaska to Oregon, and all through the Rocky Mountains but he now calls Nevada home.
Dave began putting his cowboy knowledge and experiences into poems, and then into western novels and short stories. He currently has several books and CD’s out (2 novels, 1 short story collection, 1 cowboy poetry collection and 2 CD’s of poetry). He is internationally published, with several of his short stories earning various Reader’s Choice Awards. His collection of Western short stories: Bronc Buster – Short Stories of the American West has been awarded the prestigious 2008 Will Rogers Medallion Award for Outstanding Western Fiction.
His unique and original cowboy poetry tells stories of the old and new West in meter and rhyme. Most of his stories and poems offer a humorous glimpse into the ways, manners, and tall tales of the cowboy culture and are offered in a spirit of good clean fun. In contrast, Dave also performs some serious poems reflecting on the values cowboys hold most dear.
His performances have ranged from Nebraska, Wyoming, and Texas, to Oregon, California, and Nevada. He performs at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings and Western Shows, hosts and performs at conventions, conferences and special events, and also speaks with school students about Nevada and Cowboy History.
In addition to the above, Dave is also a Film/TV/Theater actor and a former member of the Reno comedy improv troupe The Cutting Edge.
